♡K.I.D.'s Work♡

The perspectives of Black Women are often marginalized within our society. In public opinion, she is a woman full of anger, rage, and self-defense when in reality she’s in the process of embracing her blackness and becoming the protection she’s always needed. My work is always in the process of conquering the Divine Feminine, breaking the shackles of code-switching, and recreating visions of the “private” Black woman—me.

Through painting, which gives me the freedom to create a world I see, I am able to amplify a perspective and a subject matter that is ignored on the daily. The exposure of the male & female nude and vibrancy in color brings light and revelation to mortifying issues like sexism, submission, and inferiority.

As a Black Woman artist with a unique eye, I use my skill and experiences to uplift other women, as well as myself, with the goal to disrupt the system and confront the history we are always subjected to. Inspired by other revolutionists like bell hooks, I aim to be my own revolution and force the opening of eyes to my dimension.

I cannot be ignored.
